Nokia TV for Lumia is here!

Oh Hot Tamale! It’s once again the time for us science fiction-geeks to celebrate that we are one step closer to those awesome high techy things we see in the movies. Granted, TV has been on mobiles for a long time, but let’s face it, it did kinda always suck noodles. Well, Nokia TV is here to remedy the situation! Available and free in Finland and bound to be my favourite app in the near future.

Nokia Hackathon 2012

During this spring Nokia has been seriously stepping up in the student community with the Windows Phone platform. Fair enough, throughout the 00’s Qt has been very much marketed towards the blossoming young coders; but then again, during those years of reign it really came more natural and easy. I must say now it slightly feels like they are stepping in to the bandwagon they should have been steering all along with Microsoft.

Mobile Dev Camp 2012

Once again the Aalto Venture Garage is rocking with great stuff. This year’s edition of Mobile Dev Camp is… let’s say a bit more intimate but very inspiring just the same. Today’s lineup includes Otto Virta, Elias Pietilä, Hanna Manninen and Stephen Sykes.

JySTeC kicks off it’s first complete course in a classroom packed with enthusiasts

On 6th of March 2012 quarter past two pm Jyväskylä Student Tech Club kicked off its first complete course for students of Jyväskylä University and Jyväskylä University of Applied Sciences.

Jyväskylä Student Tech Club joined the Hackathon boom and hosted its first one a week ago. The platform was Windows Phone and time for hacking ten hours.

Also, note that this year the theme is more freeform than earlier as they encourage you to simply get inspired by the UN Millenium Goals. The task is still “Solving some of the worlds toughest problems.” And yeah… don’t forget the business aspect of it all.

Finnish Game Jam part 2

FGJ2012 first 24h have passed and a lot of great game-projects are underway. The first few hours after the keynote and the official announcing of this years theme, the Ouroboros -a snake devouring it’s own tail- the teams brainstormed, pitched individual ideas and then each attendee hooked up with one.
